Some 2.8 million viewers tuned in to the launch of Celebrity Big Brother 2016 last night.
The two hour opener, airing between 9PM and 11PM with host Emma Willis, was up 600,000 viewers on last summer's live launch show but down 500,000 on 2015's January run.
It is in fact the lowest rated January run of Celebrity Big Brother to date.
The show peaked with 3.2 million viewers as Emma revealed the mega line up of sixteen celebrities on this year's cast and they entered the house.
Later on and Bit On The Side was watched by just under 1 million viewers from 11PM.
While the numbers are down on past shows, it was one of Channel 5's biggest ratings of the past twelve months and made CBB the second most watched programme in its time slot.
C5 was ahead of ITV and Channel 4, who put the Big Fat Quiz of Everything against the launch, but BBC One was on top with 6.7 million viewers for Silent Witness.
