The Missing People Choir hope their Britain's Got Talent appearance can help find their loved ones.

The Missing People Choir is a community choir of people whose friends and family have gone missing.

Sharing some of their stories on the show at the weekend, the members of the group revealed how many of them haven't heard from their loved ones for decades.

They went on to perform the original song “I Miss You” for the panel to huge praise.

And with four yeses, they won themselves a spot in the next round of the competition.

Appearing on ITV's Good Morning Britain today, Peter Boxell - who wrote lyrics for the group's song - revealed how his son Lee has been missing since the 80s after vanishing aged just 15.

"I wrote some lyrics and they're really heartfelt," he said. "They tell how I feel about my dear son who has been missing since 1988 when he was only 15.

"I enjoy singing those because it gives me the opportunity to express my feelings and my emotions."Since we've started singing I no longer have to bottle up my emotions. I can let them free and I feel so good about it."

He added: "That song being performed on Britain's Got Talent is really the ultimate chance to get my message out about my son and also raise awareness for the charity."

It's not just those missing in the UK that the choir helps either.

Sarah Godwin appeared alongside Peter this morning, telling how her son hasn't been since for 25 years after going missing from the family home in New Zealand.

She said of performing in the choir: "It's such a cathartic, not just because of the singing, but because of being together and coming together as a group.

"If you're with friends or meeting people for the first time and they ask about your family and I say my son is a missing person, it's like a big curtain coming down and they don't know what to say."

More information on missing persons can be found online from the Missing People charity.

Britain's Got Talent continues Saturday nights on ITV.
