TV favourite Ant McPartlin has spoken out after checking into rehab for 'drink and drugs problems'.
The telly presenter, one half of duo Ant and Dec, has candidly opened up about his battle.
He's told how depression led to addictions to prescription drugs and substance and alcohol abuse.
"The first step is to admit to yourself you need help," he said last night. “I’ve let people down. I’m truly sorry."
Ant, who hosts I'm A Celebrity and Britain's Got Talent, told The Sun newspaper: “I feel like I have let a lot of people down and for that I’m truly sorry.
“I want to thank my wife, family and closest friends through this really difficult time.
He added to The Sun: "I have spoken out because I think it is important that people ask for help if they are going through a rough time and get the proper treatment to help their recovery."
Fans have been quick with their support and Ant's pal Dec tweeted today: "Thank you for all the kind messages and well wishes for the big fella. He will be touched. Your support is, as ever, much appreciated. DD xx."
On Twitter, one user wrote: "Ant McPartlin checking into rehab serves as a reminder that mental health issues have no boundaries. Fame does not give anyone immunity."
And another added: "The bravery of Ant McPartlin shows how mental health issues can affect anyone - pls make sure the people in your life know it's ok to talk."
