The hunky sportsman will be taking part in the new series on ITV1 when it kicks off this Saturday, and can't get enough of the sequins, spray tan and glitter.
Speaking at yesterday's Dancing On Ice press launch, Gareth said: “My teammates haven’t seen my sparkles yet but I’m waiting for texts tomorrow.
“I’m learning to embrace the sparkles.
“The wardrobe department showed me the available outfits and I thought, ‘You know what? That’s not really me’.
“But when you get into it you understand the whole performance is a show and the outifts become part of the skating. You get over it."
Despite being one of the fittest stars in the celebrity line up already, Gareth confessed that his sporting background probably won't help him.
He admitted: “Just because you play one sport it doesn’t mean you’ll be good at all sports.
“Rugby is all about hand-eye coordination with the ball. But this is all about your feet and standing on two tiny blades of metal."
Meanwhile, Gareth's DOI competitor Pamela Anderson joked that she had no issues with the skimpy outfits the girls had been given.
She said: “I’ve got nightgowns like this at home that I wander around my bedroom in!”
Dancing On Ice starts this Sunday night at 6:30PM on ITV1.
