Gary Barlow's new TV show Let It Shine is back tonight on BBC One and here's all you need to know.

What is Let It Shine?

The new BBC One talent series follows similar previous musicals series with Andrew Llyod Webber, such as Any Dream Will Do and Over the Rainbow.

Fronted by Gary Barlow, Let It Shine will follow the hunt for singers to perform in a new stage musical based on the songs of Gary's band Take That.

Who are the judges?

Alongside Gary, Spandau Ballet singer Martin Kemp and former X Factor judge Dannii Minogue will take up a role on the judging panel.

They'll also be joined by guest judge, West End singer and star of Glee Amber Riley for the first stage of the competition.

Gary Barlow said: “Dannii, Martin and Amber all bring so much to this panel with the breadth of experience in music, acting, stage and TV. I can’t wait to get started – it’s going to be epic!”

Other guest judges will appear throughout the series at different stages of the competition.

Meanwhile, Graham Norton and Mel Giedroyc will be presenting Let it Shine

Who do Let It Shine auditions work?

During the auditions the boys have just one performance to impress the judges to make it through to the next stage.

They will all sing, and some will dance and others will play instruments. But have they got what it takes to get through to the next round, where the lucky ones will get to perform in groups alongside hugely popular music acts?

As well as those who have applied to be on the show, Gary has gone out across the UK to find talented contestants who have been secretly nominated by their friends and families.

After the acts sing it's a nervous wait as they see the 'Let It Shine starway' light up.

Each judge will input a score of 1-5 for the performance, with each mark corresponding to a star.

The stars leading from the judges' desk to the stage will then light up one at a time, with the act standing on the 15th star. If this lights up then the act is through to the next round.

After all the auditions, the successful contestants will then take part in a dance round where the hopefuls will be whittled down to 40 for the next round.

Plus, a number of guest stars will also perform with the acts as part of the audition process.

The second stage of the competition will see the talented contestants perform together in five group numbers for the very first time. In all-singing and all-dancing extravaganzas, they will seek to prove their worth as they collaborate with some of the UK’s most-loved artists with spectacular staging and one big song after another.

The guest performers revealed are Busted, Beverley Knight, Melanie C, Olly Murs and Kaiser Chiefs.
