Love Island's Mike Thalassitis has left his boss rather unimpressed

Love Island's Mike Thalassitis faces a grilling from his boss when he returns from the villa.

Mike is a 24-yer-old Semi-Pro Footballer from London who was seen joining the villa in last Thursday's show.

"I just think I look different to all of them. Tall, dark and handsome – which is what most of the girls have said they are looking for," a confident Mike said ahead of his entrance.

On applying for the show, Mike continued: "It’s a one off experience – it’s an amazing villa, with good looking guys and girls. It looks really fun and this is the first time in my life I haven’t had any commitments.

"I don’t have a girlfriend, and I feel like I’m mature enough to do it."

However it turns out that Mike forgot to tell his football team's manager about the show.

Mike plays for Margate and the team's manager Steve Watt has spoken out.

"I wouldn't say I'm fuming to be honest. The disappointing factor is he hasn't let me know," he said. "It's not an ideal situation for me… I'd have appreciated at least a call to say he would be going on the show."

Speaking to Kent Live, Steve continued: "He's seen it as an opportunity, like he says, he can't turn down. But the disappointing thing is that he didn't pick the phone up and let me know.

"It's laughable. I didn't think I'd be sitting in this position with one of my players going onto a TV show and potentially missing preseason."

Love Island continues nightly on ITV2.
