Strictly Come Dancing 2013 star Natalie Gumede has been accused of having an unfair advantage on the show.
The former Corrie actress was announced yesterday as one of the stars of this year’s line up.
But according to the Daily Mirror, Natalie has been training in dance since the age of three.
In her own CV, Natalie describes herself as highly skilled in all of cabaret, contralto, jazz dancing, Latin American and tap.
A show source told the newspaper today: “It gives Natalie an unfair advantage. Fans expect them all to be beginners.”
A spokesman for Strictly Come Dancing and the BBC however hit back at the reports, saying: “Natalie has never done ballroom dancing or dancing with a partner.”
Speaking about the series yesterday, Natalie insisted she wasn’t going in to win or be competitive.
“I just want to enjoy it,” she explained. “I want to try as hard as I can, do as many weeks as I can and just enjoy every minute. I want to soak up every aspect of it, because I really feel like I’m living a dream and I feel like I’m getting the opportunity to express something in me that hasn’t yet been expressed.”
Strictly Come Dancing launches this Saturday night at 6:50PM on BBC One.
