According to The Sun newspaper her former co-star Rita Simons is also wanted for the show which begins in the autumn.
The on screen sisters had appeared on the BBC One soap for years but were both killed off on New Year’s Day in a shock story line.
"It’s fair to say that people are keen to sign at least one of them and if at all possible both of the girls for the new series," a source told The Sun newspaper.
They added: “Obviously it’s early days and lists are still being drawn up for potential candidates as there are all kinds of commitments that people have for the coming months.
“But it’s said that the BBC are well aware of the anger from EastEnders fans when it was announced the girls were to be axed from their roles – so the powers that be are convinced that signing them up would prove to be a sure fire ratings winner for the new series.”
While the BBC may be after the pair, we're VERY sure that they won't be able to get both of them.
Rita is very unlikely to be a part of the line up as she's set to tour with Legally Blonde The Musical from September until June in 2018.
As for Samantha, we'll have to watch this space...
A source added: "Sam didn’t want to do Strictly while on EastEnders but now she has more time on her hands it was a very appealing offer.
“It’s too early for contracts but she’s keen and the show are keen so it’s pretty much a done deal.”
Strictly Come Dancing will be back on BBC One later this year.
Other celebs rumoured already include Olympian Jessica Ennis-Hill, Paralympian Ellie Simmonds, actress Carley Stenson and comic Joel Dommett.
