The Voice UK: 6 changes we want to see next year

The Voice UK is coming to the end of another series and with that, we take a look at some changes we hope to see next year.

This year’s series wrapped up at the weekend and ITV have already confirmed the show will return in 2019.

When it does come back, here are some things we’d love to see done a little differently…

Allow groups
It’s never really been explained why The Voice doesn’t allow groups or bands while welcoming duos and – for 2019 – trios. To us it’s a simple change that would easily improve the show.

Put the performances on iTunes and Spotify
The Voice did this for Series 2 and 3 but then stopped, other than the final winner’s single, for reasons unexplained. They need to fix it!

And then include streams and sales in the results
It would be great if music sales influenced the results, perhaps then the winners would be the people actually wanted to buy music from.

More live shows
The live shows of The Voice UK always feel rushed with just two episodes this year to decide a winner from the finalists. That’s almost a quarter the amount of audition shows, let alone the weeks of battles and knockout rounds.

Less eliminations
Whether it’s the brutal knockouts seeing batches of contestants go in one night or the four eliminations in the live shows, The Voice format needs to calm down a bit when it comes to its Game of Thrones-esque way of axing acts.

Either add more shows or have fewer contestants in the teams, because at the moment the results are just messy.

Bring back the spin-off show (and make it good!)
As well as the iTunes downloads, The Voice spin-off show was axed after just one series which was rather disappointing. We’d love to hear and see more from the act.
