The teenager performed her self-penned track 'Missed' for the judges during her audition on Saturday night's first audition show.
Take That star Gary raved: "That performance was absolutely out of this world, it really was. That was really something special, thank you very much for that."
Speaking to press today, Ella admitted that it was a tough decision to sing her own song, and confessed she was having second thoughts before going out on stage.
"It was a tough choice to do my original song, but the rules have changed this year," she said.
The teenager, who is now one of the tips to make the live shows, added: "For that reason I wanted to put it out there — especially because Gary Barlow was there.
"I really wanted to see what he thought as I look up to him as a songwriter."
But despite Gary's praise, it was Tulisa who Ella had more of a connection with.
"If I get to the live shows, I would love to meet up with Tulisa again [as my mentor]. I think we could work well together," she said this afternoon.
