X Factor 2012 hopeful Jake Quickenden has said he's doing the show for himself, following the deaths of his brother and father.
Jake lost his dad four years ago to cancer, and brother Oliver succumbed to the same disease earlier this month at the age of just 19.
"When my dad passed away we were already very close but it did bring us all together even more," Jake said.“We were three brothers and we dealt with it in our own way. I still miss my dad every day.
"I wish he was here to see everything that is going on. But my dad being gone means Oliver is not on his own.”
In an interview with The Sun, Jake insisted he didn't worry about his own health, saying: “I kind of think if something is going to happen it will happen anyway. There is no getting away from things. If you worry about every day little things going on you wouldn’t do anything. I just try and get on with things really.”
He added: “I wanted to do the X Factor for me and because I love music but the fact this has all happened spurs me on more to make people proud.”
