X Factor's Ella Henderson has confessed she was terrified about meeting Simon Cowell for the first time.
The teenager has been signed by the music mogul despite only reaching sixth place on last year's series.
Sources say that Simon is keen for Ella to take the place of Leona Lewis and become the X Factor's new "global songstress", and she can't wait to get to work.
The 17-year-old met with Simon last month and admitted: "I was kind of thrown on the spot with him. It was exciting but really nerve wracking.
"It was great meeting somebody who understands where I'm coming from. He wants me to progress and just do what I'm doing.
"He told me to go away into the studio and have no pressure on my shoulders. It's amazing to have somebody like him backing me."
Ella is set to release her debut album later this year, and it'll no doubt include original songs such as Missed as well as new records.
Ella teased: "It's such a relief to know that I can just go straight into recording my album as soon as the X factor live tour ends.
"It's what I've always dreamed of and I'm so excited to be back in front of my piano., songwriting again."
