X Factor winner James Arthur’s debut single is proving a hit across the world, after storming the charts here in the UK.
We told earlier this month how James’ cover of Impossible had already become the biggest X Factor debut ever.
The song had shifted over a million copies in just its first month on sale, earning it a BRIT nomination in the Best British Single category.
“Hitting the million mark in around a month is a fantastic achievement for James Arthur. X Factor winners often score strong first week sales, but to push through to the million mark so quickly is truly impressive,” Martin Talbot, the Official Charts Company’s Managing Director said in a statement at the time..
And well as being big in both the UK and Ireland, the track is also entering charts around the world.
James this week secured his first ever Top 10 hit in Australia, with the song peaking at number two in the official ARIA charts.
It beat last year’s winners Little Mix, who charted at number three of Wings, despite the girls actually going to the country and performing on their version of The X Factor.
The song has also proven to be a hit in Switzerland of all places, charting at number three, and is also in the Top 40 in Austria.
However it’s not done so well in Germany, charting at 65 this month.
Still, we doubt it’ll upset James too much.
James’ track will be going up against the likes of Adele with Skyfall, Emeli Sande with Next To Me and Jessie J’s Domino at the BRITs later this month.
