X Factor's Alejandro Fernandez-Holt has said Gary Barlow was right to give him a no during his first audition.
The Brighton teenager made it through to bootcamp over the weekend, but only got three yeses at his first audition.
Alejandro performed Pink's Perfect at the judges' rooms, but Gary felt the performance was too theatre school.
“I was really worried about my first audition because I think I just scraped getting in," the 17-year-old said this week. “Gary Barlow gave me a no on that first one, and to be honest, I don’t think I did the best I could’ve done.
“I think that I perform better when I’m in front of an audience, so having the audience there in my second audition – and having them screaming – I think kind of gave me that kick that I needed to do better.”
When it came to the arenas however, Alejandro's cover of Enrique Iglesias' Hero did manage to win Gary over.
“I was so pleased when Gary liked that audition," he told Unrealitytv. “He was the one that I really wanted to impress and who I was the most worried about.
“He of course gave me a no at my first audition, and afterwards, I went up to him and shook his hand and said ‘I’m going to prove you wrong’.
“That may sound a bit cocky but I was determined to get a yes from Gary."
