Boyband Daytona Lights are set to join the cast of C4 soap Hollyoaks as a group of friends who eventually end up forming their own band inside the soap. The 5-piece pop band described as shoe-groove pop will join the show later this year.
Made up of lead singer Danny Lawrence and his friends and bandmates Matt Gill, Laurence Saywood, Sam Fordham and Louis Souyaye, the band formed in 2009 after the five guys met at a drama school in Hackney and they quickly set about forming their own band before they were signed to Hubris Records.
The band promise to bring their own quirky edge to the show which appeals to a mainly young audience and as explained by lead singer Danny, they can't quite believe that they've landed an opportunity like this. He said: ''It’s a great opportunity for us to get our music out to a mass audience and that’s what every musician wants. If people like it then that’s a bonus and we are obviously enjoying the lifestyle Hollyoaks brings, everyone has been so welcoming.''
The boys met at critically aclaimed drama school East 15 and they're no strangers to the drama world so the 5 friends are sure to be a hit with viewers when they're launched into the limelight later this year.
