The Lock spoilers
In tonight's second episode, under the cover of dawn, college principal Craig Petrie throws the phone he took from Niall Swift’s dead body into Loch Ness.
Annie is disappointed to be off the case but considering the horrific nature of it, husband Alan is relieved.
Meanwhile, Ken Patterson, owner of the local abattoir, clashes with his son Jonjo over the Loch Ness Monster stunt. Jonjo takes to his room and later films Dr Marr delivering a suspicious bag to one of the abattoir workers.
Jonjo sends the footage to Evie and Kieran, texting again later that day to say he has further information on Dr Marr that could put him in jail. Jonjo then tosses away his bipolar medication, heads out and goes missing. Wracked with worry for their son, Ken and his mother, local probation officer Nicole, report him missing to their friend DCI Smilie.
DCI Quigley makes questioning Leighton Thomas a priority. Leighton was previously convicted of a serious crime in his younger years. He moved to Lochnafoy four years ago on licence.
Leighton has an alibi for Swift’s murder, Annie believes Leighton has turned his life around but Quigley is less than convinced.
In other lines of enquiry, Annie learns that Marr argued with Swift the day of his death. Quigley and Albrighton interview Petrie. Quigley goes through the statement he gave at the station the previous day and notes the woman, whose phone he used to call an ambulance, thinks she saw him bending over Swift’s body and put something in his bag. Petrie lies, claiming it was his own phone.
Annie’s local knowledge leads her to a grim discovery and meanwhile we witness Bea secretly sedating Kieran’s brother Jordan.
On their way to meet Jonjo, Evie and Kieran are almost killed when a vehicle runs them off road. The danger in the town is growing.
Quigley has a breakthrough which hopefully brings the team one step closer to discovering who the killer is.
The Loch continues at 9PM on ITV tonight.
